Lemon Basil Gimlets

INGREDIENTS
(Lemon Basil Syrup)
Water - 1 cup
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Lemon zest - 1/2 teaspoon
Basil leaves - 1 cup
(Cocktail)
Ice
Lemon basil syrup - 2 ounces
Lemon juice - 2 ounces
Gin - 2 ounces
Lemon slice - for garnishing
Basil leaves - for garnishing
PREPARATION
(Lemon Basil Syrup)
1. Heat 1 cup water in a pan , add 1/2 cup sugar , 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest , 1 cup basil leaves and stirring continuously on medium heat until the mixture boils and the sugar is fully dissolved.
2. Remove from the heat, cover at least 1 hour.
3. After the syrup has cooled, strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer.
(Cocktail)
1. Fill the shaker with ice, add 2 ounces lemon basil syrup, 2 ounces lemon juice, 2 ounces gin and shake well to combine.
2. Fill the glass with ice and strain mixture.
3. Garnish with lemon slice and basil leaves.
4. Serve.
