The Tyler Johnson redemption tour continues! Found lying motionless on the slopes of the mountains surrounding Phoenix by Nets officials, they first took the opportunity to shave off his horrible facial hair, then brushed him off, bundled him, still unconscious, onto a plane, and turned him into a reasonable player for their Bubb Squad. It's been so long since Johnson had even a small sustained amount of good play that I'm caught totally off guard. I guess this is what happens when you give NBA players pressure-free opportunities. We've seen it so many times. When there's not much to play for, and not much in the way of expectations (unlike in Phoenix, where his contract set an ideal level of play that he couldn't really hope to meet), it's a lot easier to just go out there and ball. I actually just remembered that it was the Nets who first offered Johnson that 4 year, 50 million dollar backloaded contract. The Heat ended up matching, but now, the Nets have got their man. And for a lot cheaper too, 200,000 dollars doesn't seem like very much to acquire the services of a real-life NBA player, no matter for how short a duration.
