Charity Shop Gold or Garbage New Bright RC Land Rover LiPo conversion + kill the receiver and drive motor PART #3 Autopsy
This car works fine on reasonable flat surfaces but it really struggles in the grass "off road" so I thought I would answer many requests and modify it to use a 2S LiPo. It has 5 AA batteries as standard so it should handle a little over 7.5 volts comfortably however I soon found that the extra power available was enough to burn out the motor and the receiver. I think the motor overheated struggling in the grass, maybe shorting out one of the windings and that allowed it to draw too much current which then fried the power transistors on the receiver board. I have split the project into 3 videos.
Part #1 conversion to LiPo
Part #2 test run
Part #3 autopsy
Filmed using Canon Powershot SX60 HS

Generally my projects are for my grandchildren to enjoy. OK, I enjoy them too. If anybody else likes them, that is a bonus. I like to keep my work as simple and basic as possible so that it can be copied easily and improved by anybody who wants to try themselves. I recycle or repurpose items rather than buy new and when I do buy I like to keep it cheap.
