Coelogyne usitana Orchid in bloom & Care tips

Today we finally look at the Coelogyne usitana, one of my favorites lately, as we discuss how to care for this wonderful orchid species. ▼▼▼More info bellow!▼▼▼ Coelogyne usitana is a medium sized orchid, compared to other big Coelogynes, that is apparently found only on Mindanao Island in The Philippines. More info on its natural habitat here http://www.orchidspecies.com/coelusitana.htm It blooms sequentially on a pendant spike for more than a year and each flower usually opens after the previous one fades. The spike grows longer and longer as time goes by, forming a lond pendant inflorescence with time. Multiple new growths can bloom at the same time. The flowers are medium sized, not fragrant and present a wonderful contrast of colors. The petals as sepals are buttery green and translucent, as the lip is a very rich, deep orange maroon. The shape can remind of an animal with horns. This orchid takes intermediate to warm temperatures, but prefers the warm side. Humidity is not a big issue, over 40% is ideal, while water should be provided as the medium approaches dryness. In case of inorganic medium, it can be kept damp at all times, provided it is very airy. Light should be moderate to bright, the leaves can get damaged if the temperature is high and the sun directly heats the leaves.
